Green Homes Grant

The Green Homes Grant scheme was announced in July 2020 and will be available in England. Applications opened at the end of September 2020.

It is a great opportunity to to get carry out home improvements that will not only save you money on your heating, but also help to reduce CO2 emissions.

The grant scheme will offer up to £5,000 in vouchers for improvements to your home insulation or for low carbon heating, and up to £10,000 is available if you or someone in your household is on one of a number of qualifying benefits.

For the normal £5,000 grant level a one third contribution is required from the home owner or landlord.

Anyone receiving the maximum grant of up to £10,000 will not be required to contribute to the cost of works.

Landlords are also eligible up to the £5,000 limit.

There are restrictions and terms and conditions to meet including using a fully accredited installer. Work will need to be completed by 31 March 2021.


The following insulation measures are covered by the voucher:

  • Solid wall
  • Under floor
  • Cavity wall
  • Loft
  • Flat roof
  • Room in roof
  • Insulating a park home


The following low carbon heating measures are covered by the voucher:

Both Solar Thermal Panels and Air Source Heat Pumps are referred to as “primary measures”. Once you have one or more of these done you are able to use any remaining grant for secondary measures which include items such as double-glazing and heating controls.

PDP Services can install solar thermal systems and both air and ground source heat pumps. We can also install a number of the available secondary measures.

Please note that two commonly requested items that are not eligible are solar PV systems and central heating boilers (other than biomass).
