Wind Turbines

Wind turbines are designed to catch the wind with blades that are forced round, driving a turbine which generates electricity. The stronger the wind, the more electricity produced.

Wind turbines come in two different sizes – KW3 and KW6. The amount of electricity they produce depends entirely on the site and local wind conditions. As an average the KW6 could produce between 6,000 – 12,000kW per annum depending on location. These turbines are suitable for both commercial and residential installations.

When selecting a site for a turbine there are many factors which need to be considered such as wind turbulence, height of turbine, prevailing winds, strength and direction, and planning consent. Before installing a turbine a full site assessment will need to be undertaken and planning consent agreed.

Benefits of a Wind Turbine:

  • Clean fuel source
  • Reduce your carbon footprint
  • Cost effective
  • Built on existing land
  • Doesn’t produce pollutants
