Electric Car Charging
If you already have, or are planning on getting, an electric vehicle than having an electric car charger installed at your property will make your life easier. A home EV charging point is not only safer, but it charges 2.5 times quicker than a standard 3 pin plug. Home car charging points can charge an electric vehicle from flat to full in 3.5 – 8 hours (depending on the vehicle and charging point).
The savings that can be made by charging your vehicle at home can be huge. Electricity tariffs vary, but an average electricity rate is 10p per kWh, at this rate your EV could cost as little as 2 p per mile.
Grants for Home Electric Car Charging Points
The Office for Low Emission Vehicles gives eligible electric/hybrid car owners a grant of £500 towards purchase and installation. PDP Services are able to offer Olev (Office of Low Emission Vehicles) Grants under both the Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) and Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS). Both of these schemes offer EV charge point grants for EV drivers.
If your electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle was bought from 1st April 2015 onwards and you have off-street parking, you will be eligible for the grant, providing you use an OLEV-approved installer such as PDP.
